Project Researcher I Specializing in Composite Materials and Their Fire Resistance
For the non-academic position of Project Researcher I specialising in composite materials and their fire resistance at Department of Wood Science and Wood Technology at the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology, we are looking for a colleague to join the project “Innovative Sandwich-Type Composite Doors with Reduced Flammability”, which focuses on the development of composite materials with reduced flammability and the verification of their properties. This opportunity is suitable for graduates of master’s or doctoral degree programmes in wood science and technology or related fields, with experience in composite materials research.
You will become a member of an experienced research team that has long been dedicated to researching the properties of wood, wood-based materials, wood-processing technologies and timber structures. The team will provide you with expert support, knowledge sharing and opportunities for further professional development. In developing new materials, processes and technologies, we cooperate with foreign institutions as well as Czech and multinational companies. Together, you will contribute to the experimental development and testing of composite materials at the modern Josef Ressel Research Centre in Útěchov.
What will your responsibilities be?
- designing and preparing raw material compositions and production processes for manufacturing a composite core with reduced flammability
- developing and testing composite test panels
- measuring and analysing the effects of different component ratios on the resulting physical, mechanical and fire-resistance properties of the panels
- investigating interactions between the individual components of the mixture
- conducting specialised fire-resistance tests of composite materials
What are we looking for?
- a master’s or doctoral degree in Wood Engineering, Wood Processing Technology and Management, or a related field
- basic knowledge of composite materials manufacturing and fire-resistance requirements
- basic knowledge of testing composite materials with a focus on fire resistance and the subsequent statistical processing of measured data
What research experience do we require?
- experience in composite materials research with a focus on fire resistance
