Project Researcher II with a Focus on Energy Markets Trading

Research Area: energy markets and electricity trading

The research team focuses on the analysis of energy markets, electricity trading, and the identification of key factors influencing energy price development in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Germany. The research utilizes extensive data from energy exchanges and examines both short-term and long-term market influences shaping supply, demand, and price evolution in the energy market.

A part of the project is also the development of an innovative energy trading system on exchanges, which connects economic research with real practice. Team members participate in its design and further development in cooperation with programmers and jointly create solutions that translate expert knowledge of how energy markets operate into specific applications and trading strategies.

What will your job involve?

  • Mapping the functioning of the energy market in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Germany
  • Working with data from energy exchanges
  • Providing feedback on the creation of the energy trading system on exchanges
  • Analyzing short-term and long-term factors influencing prices in energy markets

What do we expect from you?

  • A master's degree in Finance or a related field; started doctoral studies in a relevant field is an advantage
  • Excellent knowledge of English, ability to publish in English
  • Experience in system development for trading in electricity markets
  • Active feedback to the team of programmers during system development
  • Ability to analyze the energy market and its fundamentals
  • Knowledge of the functioning of institutions influencing energy production, distribution, and trading in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Germany
  • Ability to process and understand data from exchange markets
  • Proficiency in PC use (MS Office, searching in industry databases)
  • Proactive and responsible approach to work, creative problem-solving
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, thoroughness, reliability, and organizational skills
