Academic Position at the Department of Silviculture, Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology

Research Area: Forest Establishment, Seed Production, and Nursery Management

The department is engaged in both pedagogical and scientific research activities in the field of forestry. It primarily addresses current issues of forest cultivation in relation to the adaptation of forest ecosystems to changing environmental conditions and societal needs. It collaborates in practical education and projects with both domestic and foreign institutions.

What will your job responsibilities be?

  • Leading lectures, exercises, and excursions in the fields of forest establishment, seed production, nursery management, and tree breeding in both Czech and English
  • Testing and verifying students' knowledge
  • Supervising, consulting, and reviewing bachelor's theses
  • Collaborating on scientific research and creative activities in the field
  • Assisting in the preparation and implementation of grant and other projects
  • Publishing results in professional and scientific journals and presenting at conferences and seminars
  • Engagement in activities associated with the university's third role

What do we expect from you?

  • University education at least at the master’s level, focusing on forestry, forest engineering, or a related field, initiation of doctoral studies is an advantage
  • Excellent knowledge of the Czech language, ability to teach in Czech and English, and publish professional works in English
  • Ability to independently conduct classes and prepare study materials
  • Knowledge of modern teaching methods, digital tools, and trends in higher education
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and organizational skills
  • Active approach to scientific, publishing, and project activities
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team
  • Proactive, responsible, and reliable approach to fulfilling work tasks
  • User knowledge of MS Office and online teaching tools
  • Certification of professional competence of the second degree for handling plant protection products
  • Willingness to participate in the development of study programs and departmental activities
  • Valid driver’s license category B (active driver)

What research experience do we require?

  • Experience in solving research projects in the relevant field
  • Experience in field research, including data collection, processing, and evaluation
  • Publication activity and experience in publishing research results in professional journals
